How much is too much?

So, I like to consider myself "thrify" instead of cheap :) I tend to try to make a lot of things, rather then buy them. However, I am madly, truly, deeply in love with this, from Etsy. I MUST have this. MUST MUST MUST! However, it's $180! My thrify little self is saying NO! But my "this is my wedding damn it" self is saying "MINE!"I have read blog after blog after blog about how to save money. I think I have done a fairly good job. I am making a lot of things. I made our save the dates, I am making my veil, gosh darn it I'll even bake my cupcakes if I have to! BUT I WANT THIS! I just am trying to reason wtih myself that it's ok to spend that money. How much is too much?

Ummm what do they put in those cookies?!

C makes me laugh every day. Sometimes he will say something that has me rolling! Sometimes it's me realizing I am not the sharpest tool in the shed. Often, it's just that we make each other giggle (I hope he agrees with that! hahah).

With that being said, I can't wait for the rest of our lives to spend laughing. I hope when he is pissed off, my doing whatever I usually do, can turn that frown upside down forever. I think that's a lot of what marriage is about. Realizing that you have to have a sense of humor. Nobody is perfect and you can't expect them to be. You need to realize that people are going to do somethings that are dumb. Now, yes, I believe there is a HUGE difference between CHOICES and knowing right from wrong, but something let's say like I don't know, trying to help with the electric work in the house and touching the socket, that's just something you have to laugh off. Or hold your breath for so long while pouring concrete, so "your lungs don't cementify" and then you almost pass out, dumb. But you know what, it made us both laugh and smile and it was SOOOOOOO worth it :)

And apparently the Chinese agree with me (or at least the guy or gal who makes the fortunes does) as you will see above. My thoughts exactly cookie. I will totally eat your words!

State of "un"panic!

So I am becoming slightly concerned. According to theknot.com, my wedding is 197 days away. Woohoo! However, I don't have that "OMG I am going to pull my hair out of my head" feeling or panic, like I have seen some of my friends have as they were planning their weddings. This is starting to concern me. Am I missing something? If things are going so smoothly now, will they crumble the day of? Ok, maybe I really AM panicked!

Did your wedding planning involve large quanities of wine and crying on your MOH's shoulder? Or was it an easy, breezy process. Should I begin to worry?!

My heart hurts....

So, as much as I would love to say something funny or witty, all I can think today is about how my heart is hurting slowly and painfully. First, I am sooooooooooo sad for those in Fort Hood. I don't even want to think about those soliders who survived deployment and, on their way back this happens. Even those getting ready to go. On our own soil, on our own turf, and on a base where we are supposed to feel safe. Wow. I don't know the motive, etc. nor do I judge. I just am praying. I hope this is the end, but my fear is there will be retaliation. I don't do well with anxiety, so I am just taking deep breaths and avoiding the news. People suck!

Secondly, my Grandy is getting worse. She forgot my Grandad last night and I had to witness heartbreak and sadness like I have never seen before. To have my Grandad, who is the strongest man I know tear up made me bite my lip and go to my happy place. I can't imagine being with someone for 64 years and one day they not recognizing you. This is why I take so many pictures! Who knows if I'll get this awful disease, but I want to be prepared. I also want to know that those closest to me will be strong and fight like my Grandad. Please don't leave me or give up. I love you all!

There, that is my venting for the day. So much better!

Friends shouldn't let friends text SOBER!

OMG! How freakin' embarrassing! So my boss is a total lune, but I love her for that. Anyway, to sum up why I started freaking out, my friend was really upset because her boss took her out for lunch and during that lunch, she got laid off. So now for my story...
My boss calls me out of the blue. I have been doing what I do for 7 years now, and ever year to go over my schedule has either been a meeting at work or a phone call saying this and that. This time SHE WANTED TO TAKE ME TO DINNER. I freaked, I'm not gonna lie.
I've been moody and emotional these past few weeks anyway, so this just hit the nail on the head. I went to text my best bud, and apparently the letters S and P are close in the phonebook. Needless to say when calling my boss a "Weirdo and a whack job" I sent the text to my FREAKIN' BOSS!!!! OMG! So I get a text back from her saying, "Um, I think you sent this to the wrong person". Uh, yea! You think?! So I totally had to explain the story of the lunch and my boss just said, "no you are not getting fired". Not now at least I say. OMG! How mortifying! So she won't answer my calls or anything and I feel like poo. I'm hoping I can use this as a "woopsie, I'm spacey" excuse and get away with it. Moral of the story...PROOFREAD and double check before you hit send. Wow.

Buying the Cow

I truly believe there is such thing as the one. We would all like to kick back and wait for some magical force to show us who we should spend the rest of our lives with. But the truth is, there isn't a lightning bolt that slaps you on the ass and tells you to pick this person over all others. It's like the rain, rain falls all the time. Sometimes we are prepared for it, sometimes we're not. And depending where you are when it hits, you either get caught in it, or you don't. In fact, most of us try like hell to avoid it. You might miss the bus, you might catch the bus. Maybe you remembered your umbrella, maybe you didn’t. No big signs just random torrential bursts of opportunity and thats the most fate can do, the rest is up to us.....Words to live by...and chances to take :)
