Bracelet Swap

I'm a day late and a dollar short to the party. Ok, maybe even longer. Oye.

Anyway, it's been a hectic few weeks. In all my woes meing, I got a job! But, I now have to deal with finishing up everything at my current one and not leaving anything hanging. Plus the hubby is coming home and I've been trying desperately to get things on the homefront in order, to no avail of course.

So yes, I'm a slacker. But I'm blogging now, so that is important, right?! Right. :)

Here it goes.

Back in July, Michelle hosted a Bloggy Bracelet Swap. Of course I was going to sign up! I love swaps and bracelets, so this was a win-win. I sent bracelets to Alisha and Lindsay. I just heart them and you should read their blogs. They are fun.

And here are my bracelets together!

I also got a bracelet from the Penn State University's THON- which is a 46 hour dance marathon for kids with Pediatric cancer. My swap partner, Lauren, danced all 46 hours! Sheesh! I can't dance for 10 mins without getting sleepy! I'd show you that one, but a certain kitten got into my jewelry box and it's missing. So are my earrings. That cat....

Anyway, I'm drifting, sorry. Lauren also sent me the pink and green sailors knot. LOVE! I am a total granola loving hippie so these bracelets are right up my ally. LOVE THEM! I got the others from Alisha, which are wonderful! LOVE LOVE LOVE!

And I'd like to apologize for the crappy photo, I can't do two things at once.

Thanks Michelle for hosting this swap!

Knot It!

So, I've been on crafty, DIY kick lately. I think it's because I'm lazy and really don't want to clean my house. :) Anyway, I'm also fascinated with rosettes. So, since I've been chanelling my inner Martha, I thought, "I'm going to learn how to make these". So I did. And now you can too.

Yes I'm in PJs. Don't judge me.
Fold your fabric in half and make a knot. I'm no good with measuring so who knows how long the fabric is. I'm horrible, right? At least I know how to make a knot. That's a start....

Next, start twisting the fabric around the knot. I left the tail type thing out. More on that later. Here is a great You Tube video to show what I mean. Or just see below.

Ocassionally I'd put fabric glue around so that the twists would stay. The video also suggests sewing. Again, I'm lazy. Plus I like glue. Although a pointer, don't leave it unattended. Kittens are likely to be nosey and play with glue. Woops.

Lastly, when you have twisted, glued, sewed and made your rosette look fab, tuck the tail under. Or you could use felt. I just didn't have any.

Then I glued it to a bobby pin, but I'm sure you could put it on anything your heart desired.

And viola! An easy DIY that anyone (if I can do it, you can do it!) can complete!

The Terrible...Ten Months?

I know parents usually say their child hits a terrible two or terrible threes phase. Well, I guess you could say my kitten is in his terrible ten months. Lately he has deemed it desirable to climb on my hamper, jump to the very top of my armoior, and hurl himself (aka flying squirrel style) onto the bed. Oh, and did I mention this occurs at 4 am? Last night I woke up to scratching. He was on the armoior sliding back and forth. It reminded me of Tom Cruise from Risky Business. Joy.

Below are the items he has ruined/destruction he has caused/mayhem:

1. My dining room table.

My table used to be spotless. Used to is the key word. Now, it's covered in scratches. Oh, and cat hair. Apparently it's fun to sleep up there. Awesome.

2. My hand.

I have two scars on my right hand from him scratching me. I wish I was kidding.....

3. My orange kitty.

Spaz now has a bald spot, awesome.

4. My blinds.

Apparently he likes to worm him way through the blinds. Why? Because it's fun.

5. The toilet paper rolls.

I watched him for a good 10 minutes this morning rip it to shreds and eat it.

Can kittens go through a terrible two phase? Or is it just my kitty? And I'm sure people will say squirt him with a water bottle. This cat loves the bath and shower, so that is out. Oye!
