DIY: Felt flower ring

So, have you heard of Craftaholics Anonymous? Well, I'm Megan, and I'm a craftaholic. With that being said, I am participating in the Handmade Gift Exchange that Linda is hosting. More on that in another post. Today, however, is about a DIY project I made for my wonderful partner.

I took some felt that I found for $.29 at Michaels. Then I cut three small circles out, each one a little smaller than the next.

I stacked the circles, like above, to make sure they were not all the same size. Me, measure? No way jose. I guessed. I suck lol.

Anyway, after figuring it out, I then burnt the edges so it wouldn't fray. I used a candle and just lightly cinged the edges. This also gave it a nice kind of pushed up look. I don't know what else to call it.

Here is where the trickiness came to play. So you can see above it looks all well and dandy, right? I'm assuming I could have just glued it on the ring blank and gone from there, but no, I wanted more damn it. First, I tried to link everything together using a pin.

I wasn't sure what to do with the pin part. I kept bending it and it just wasn't doing what I wanted. So I scratched that idea.

Then a stroke of genius hit me. I used an earring blank and stuck it up through the bottom of the pieces. Then I was able to "pin" the pieces together. I twisted the pin part, but it was still sticking up, so I finally figured out that I could just glue the third and smaller piece of felt on top of the other two, therefore covering the pin part. Genius. :)

Lastly, I glued on a pearl and glued the metal earring backing to the ring blank. Viola.

If you have any questions, let me know. I'm sure I could have explained this better so if you need any clarification, shoot me a comment or an email!
If you attempt to make one, I'd love to see it!

I'm an 80s girl....

I have a PT job with some really cool ladies. However, some are young. Like, way young.

Case in point.

*First let me preface, we are not preggers. This was just a random, it's slow, let's talk about everything under the sun kind of day.

M: Have you and your husband thought of baby names?
Me: Yes, but the hubby doesn't like me telling people because he thinks they'll steal them.
M: What are they?
Me: Ok, fine. Girl, I like Rhiannon, but the hubby does not.
M: Where did you come up with that name? I like it.
Me: It was a Fleetwood Mac song.
M: Who is Fleetwood Mac?
Me: You know, Stevie Nicks.
M: Never heard of him.
Me: ...........................................

I realized that day that I want my future children to grow up with an appreciation of all things 70s, 80s, and 90s. Ok, not all things. But here are some of the tops that they must know/love/own.

                                                                                                                          The Brat Pack

Moral of the story? I'm old. And I still wish I had held on to my jelly shoes!

Cat's don't wear hats, they wear glasses!

Get it? The cat in the hat. HA! I crack myself up.

I hope I don't get a lot of animal rights folks beating down my door. Believe me, this cat is spoiled and treated like a king. Do you see the size of him? He's a sumo wrestler. Anywho, on to the post. Tiger is my doll. I don't have a kid so when I get in the "I want to play dress up" mood, Tig gets the blunt of it. Raven is too quick and eats stuff I put on him and Spaz bites. So Tig it is.

Seriously, don't they make glasses for cats? What if he needs some?
And what inspired this epic fashion statement you may ask? Well, I'll show you!

Now all Tig needs is a blue sweater. Hmmmm.

Tickle Me Tuesday

Sheesh, I have been slacking on Tickle Me Tuesday posts. What's wrong with me?! Anyway, I have been doing plenty of browsing on items that will spruce up my kitchen. Unfortunately, a personal chef is out of the equation. However, I'd like one of everything below please.

Fantabulously Frugal announced the Rue La La sample sale today and I almost peed my pants. I have been wanting some Le Creuset pieces for awhile now, so I may have to partake in this. And by may, I mean totally. I need this.

I have been attempting to learn how to cook while the husband is away. I'm spoiled rotten, as he does all the cooking and cleaning. So I figured learning how to make a meal or two is the least I can do, right? However, if you know me, I'm messy. Like, for real. I can make a mess with the most non-messiest product. I usually spill at least once a day. This is why I was so worried about wearing white for my wedding. Anway, I think an apron is a must!

We have a poster displayed in our home reminding guests to "Keep Calm and Carry On." Therefore, I need these tea towels. It's only fitting.
Keep Calm and Enjoy your day!

Tweet, tweedalee

I tweet way more than I care to admit. I find myself sometimes going through withdrawals if I haven't logged in for awhile. I wish I was joking...I have to tweet for work, via two different accounts, in addition to my personal account, so sometimes it's a juggling act.

The other day though I realized I tweeted A LOT in one day. I won't give the numbers, because it's slightly embarassing. So, I found this comic and laughed and wanted to share with the twitterverse.

Enjoy!
