DIY: Felt flower ring

So, have you heard of Craftaholics Anonymous? Well, I'm Megan, and I'm a craftaholic. With that being said, I am participating in the Handmade Gift Exchange that Linda is hosting. More on that in another post. Today, however, is about a DIY project I made for my wonderful partner.

I took some felt that I found for $.29 at Michaels. Then I cut three small circles out, each one a little smaller than the next.

I stacked the circles, like above, to make sure they were not all the same size. Me, measure? No way jose. I guessed. I suck lol.

Anyway, after figuring it out, I then burnt the edges so it wouldn't fray. I used a candle and just lightly cinged the edges. This also gave it a nice kind of pushed up look. I don't know what else to call it.

Here is where the trickiness came to play. So you can see above it looks all well and dandy, right? I'm assuming I could have just glued it on the ring blank and gone from there, but no, I wanted more damn it. First, I tried to link everything together using a pin.

I wasn't sure what to do with the pin part. I kept bending it and it just wasn't doing what I wanted. So I scratched that idea.

Then a stroke of genius hit me. I used an earring blank and stuck it up through the bottom of the pieces. Then I was able to "pin" the pieces together. I twisted the pin part, but it was still sticking up, so I finally figured out that I could just glue the third and smaller piece of felt on top of the other two, therefore covering the pin part. Genius. :)

Lastly, I glued on a pearl and glued the metal earring backing to the ring blank. Viola.

If you have any questions, let me know. I'm sure I could have explained this better so if you need any clarification, shoot me a comment or an email!
If you attempt to make one, I'd love to see it!
